Arrival of John and Abigail Adams Scholarship Letters

To:Superintendents, High School Principals, and Directors of Charter Schools and Educational Collaboratives
From:David P. Driscoll, Commissioner of Education
Date:September 18, 2006

The Department has recently determined eligibility for the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship for students in the class of 2007. A packet of letters from Governor Romney congratulating students in your district who received the Adams Scholarship was sent to you for delivery on September 15. Please make copies of these letters for your files and distribute the originals to your students as soon as you are able. If your shipment has not arrived, contact the MCAS Service Center at 1-800-737-5103. Students should be reminded of the importance of keeping a copy of the Governor’s letter in a safe place since state colleges and universities request a copy of the letter at the time of admission. I also encourage you and the students to read the Adams Scholarship eligibility guidelines carefully. If you have students who participated in grade 10 MCAS for the first time as juniors in spring 2006, are enrolled as seniors on October 2, 2006, and meet the qualifications for the Adams Scholarship, you will receive a second packet of Adams Scholarship award letters for them in December.
