METCO Program

FY2008 Additional Metco Grant Funding Now Available

The FY08 state budget included a $1 million increase in funding for the Metco program. Most of this additional funding will be used to increase the grants received by participating districts, as follows:

The per pupil allotment for all participating districts will be increased by $200 to $4000.
Approximately $250,000 will be made available for supplemental transportation allotments, for those districts whose transportation costs exceed their current allotments.

Districts that wish to apply for a supplemental allotment should send an email to Hadley Cabral in the DOE School Finance office itemizing their estimated Metco transportation costs for the 2007-2008 school year. The deadline for submission is August 17. After the supplemental transportation funds have been allotted, we will provide all districts with formal notification of their amended grant amounts.
