Register for Training on Admissions under M.G.L. Chapter 74

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will provide training for staff involved with admissions in school districts with Chapter 74-approved vocational technical programs. There will be two sessions. School district staff should plan to attend both sessions because each session covers different content. Both sessions will be held at Assabet Valley Regional Technical School in Marlboro. For directions to Assabet go to http://www.assabetafterdark.com/directions.htm. Session 1 is on Thursday February 5, 2009. The snow date for Session 1 is Friday February 6, 2009. Sign-in will take place fron 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. The session will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:30 PM. Coffee will be provided upon arrival. Session 1 will include content related to Massachusetts General Law Chapter 74, the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Education Regulations, as well as the federal Guidelines for Eliminating Discrimination and Denial of Services on the Basis of Race, Color National Origin, Sex, and Handicap in Vocational Education Programs - 34 CFR, Part 100, Appendix B, and the federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. Session 2 is on Thursday February 12, 2009.The snow date for Session 2 is Friday February 13, 2009. Sign-in will take place fron 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. The session will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:30 PM. Coffee and pastry will be provided upon arrival. Session 2 will include admission policy development and implementation as well as a case study.
