The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education seeks comments on the Draft Vocational Technical Education Framework titled Construction Craft Laborer, which is posted at http://www.doe.mass.edu/cte/frameworks/craftlaborer.docx. This Vocational Technical Education Framework when approved, will serve as the basis for developing curriculum for a new high school Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education program in the construction craft laborer occupation. The program is being developed in partnership with the Laborers International Union. The United States Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship as well as the Massachusetts Department of Labor and Workforce Development - Division of Apprentice Training have approved a two-year registered apprenticeship program in this occupation. High school students who complete the high school program will receive credit toward the two-year apprenticeship through an articulation agreement. Written comments on the Framework may be submitted by mail to Jeffrey Wheeler, Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 75 Pleasant St., Malden, MA 02148, by fax to 781-338-3950, or by email to jwheeler@doe.mass.edu.
