Special Education Professional Development Seminar for Educators of Students Who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Good Afternoon - The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education/Special Education Planning and Policy Development Office is pleased to offer a free summer professional development opportunity to educators who teach students who are deaf or hard of hearing in Massachusetts. The purpose of the 2-day summer professional development seminar is to familiarize Massachusetts educators with the social aspects of students who are deaf and hard of hearing as well as how to access technology. The seminar will be held August 10 & 11, 2009, in Worcester, MA. Topics include:
  • Looking Into the Language, Communication and Psycho-Social Needs of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Student
  • Guidelines for Transitioning to Oral Education or a Mainstream Setting
  • Improving Auditory Access to the Curriculum through Technology
