Fourteen New Charter School Prospectuses Submitted for Consideration

MALDEN - The state has received 14 prospectuses from groups hoping to submit final applications for new charter schools to be considered by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education in February, 2010. Founding groups whose prospectuses show the most promise will be notified by mid-September and encouraged to submit a full application, due in mid-November. Those will then be reviewed and evaluated by Department of Elementary and Secondary Education staff and external review panels with expertise in education, business, legal, and organizational structure. The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will vote to award new charters in February, 2010. The proposals that were submitted for consideration are:
