Chapter 74 Vocational Technical Education Postsecondary and Postgraduate Report Fall 2010

To:Superintendents of School Districts with Chapter 74-Approved Vocational Technical Education Programs
From:Jeffrey Wheeler
Date:October 12, 2010

The Chapter 74 Vocational Technical Education Postsecondary and Postgraduate Report Fall 2010 is required because the Student Information Management System (SIMS) does not collect student-level data beyond high school. State aid is calculated in part on secondary, postsecondary, and postgraduate students enrolled in Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs on October 1. Perkins postsecondary allocations are based on students who are matriculated in Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs and who have been awarded PELL grants for the fall semester as of December 15.

Districts with Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs on the postsecondary level and or postgraduate students enrolled in secondary-level Chapter 74-approved vocational technical education programs should submit this report. The Chapter 74 Vocational Technical Education Postsecondary and Postgraduate Report Excel Database- Fall 2010 should be downloaded from http://www.doe.mass.edu/cte/data/. Specific instructions are printed on each worksheet. Additional information is provided in the document titled Instructions for School Districts in Reporting Student-Level Data for Career/Vocational Technical Education Updated February 2010 that is also posted at http://www.doe.mass.edu/cte/data/.

The report should be submitted using email to Ed Abrams eabrams@doe.mass.edu by November 30, 21o0. Special Note: Table 5 PELL Grants of the report should be submitted to me by December 31, 2010 with an original signature by regular mail to me at the address on the letterhead.

Note that a copy of this memo has been sent to the person in each district who submitted this report last year, if applicable.

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will not be held responsible for districts that do not submit this report, receiving less state aid and/or no Perkins IV funds.
