Funding Opportunity

June 30, 2011 Dear Program Directors, I am pleased to tell you that the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE), and the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development in partnership with the Commonwealth Corporation are about to release a Request for Proposals that will provide 2 regional collaborations of adult basic education, workforce development and community colleges with the opportunity to explore new ways of working together in support of the successful transition of adult learners to post-secondary education and training. ESE funded Community Adult Learning Centers are the eligible applicants. Applicants are asked to form a collaboration that includes workforce investment boards and/or career centers and community colleges as required partners to provide academic, career readiness and support services that are designed to help adult learners gain the skills and knowledge needed to successfully transition to community college. The RFP will soon be posted on the Commonwealth Corporation's website. http://www.commcorp.org/ With Literacy in Mind. Anne Serino, Massachusetts ABE State Director
