Technology in Massachusetts Schools June 2011

July 2011 Dear Educators, Parents, and Other Interested Parties, I am pleased to share with you this report, Technology in Massachusetts Schools Download PDF Document  Download MS WORD Document, which includes findings from data submitted to us by school districts in 2010. This report looks at whether districts are ready to use technology to participate in new initiatives such as the Common Core State Standards, online assessment, and the online teaching and learning system we are developing with our Race to the Top funding. The Department uses the data submitted by school districts to gauge their progress in implementing their technology plans. Through this process we are able to approve districts' plans, making the districts eligible for funding such as E-rate discounts and technology grants. We look forward to working with you toward our mutual goal of increasing student achievement through the use of technology. I hope you will find this report helpful in your technology planning. Sincerely, Mitchell D. Chester, Ed.D.
