Greetings and best wishes for the New Year! In order to administer the spring 2012 MELA-O, individuals seeking to qualify as QMAs must complete their training early in January so that QMTs can submit their qualifying materials to Measured Progress for receipt no later than Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Instructions for submitting materials have been provided to QMTs. Results will be mailed to QMTs before March 1.

Since spring 2012 will be the final statewide administration of the MELA-O, QMA and QMT qualification materials received by Measured Progress after January 31, 2012 will not be processed.

As a reminder, the spring MELA-O administration window is February 13-March 16, 2012. All students enrolled in grades K-12 who were reported as LEP in the October 2012 Student Information Management System (SIMS) and all formerly LEP (FLEP) students in grades K-12 who were reported as LEP in the October 2011 SIMS must participate.

Please contact the MCAS Service Center at 800-737-5103 if you have any questions. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

I want to thank you for your support in ensuring that your schools have a sufficient number of QMTs and QMAs to administer the spring 2012 MELA-O to your ELL students.
