ACLS Seeks Members for Advising for Next Steps Task Force

Dear ABE Program Directors and Staff, Adult and Community Learning Services is convening a Task Force on Advising for Next Steps in ABE and we invite you to apply to be part of this important work. The goals of the Task Force are the following:
  1. to review the recommendations from the 2011 Counseling Task Force
  2. to discuss the needs of ALL ABE students for next steps advising services in an environment where college and career readiness and increasing academic rigor have become critically important to our system, and most importantly, to our students' future success
  3. to make policy recommendations on how advising for next steps should be delivered and documented in our programs during the next five-year cycle, and
  4. to develop a tool for capturing/recording "next steps" plans and strategies for all students in ABE programs.
Participation on the Task Force will include four 3-hour meetings at Mt. Wachusetts Devens Adult Learning Center from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the following dates: Friday, 5/11/12
Friday, 5/25/12
Friday, 6/8/12
Friday, 6/22/12
Your ability to participate in all four meetings is required so that a range of issues can be considered, and recommendations to ACLS can be made by the end of June. Stipends are available for participants; 11-12 participants are needed from diverse program types and serving diverse student populations. If you are interested in participating in this Task Force, please contact Patricia Pelletier at 508 - 982 - 8535 or patricia@pelletier-consulting.com.
