Webinar Invitation for NSLP New Verification Collection Report (742 Form) for SY 2013-2014

To:School Nutrition Program Directors
From:Kathleen C. Millett, Executive Director
Office for Nutrition, Health and Safety Programs
Date:November 13, 2013

The Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act, as amended by the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA), requires a unified accountability system designed to ensure that participating school food authorities (SFAs) comply with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) requirements. The Act also requires SFAs to conduct an annual Verification process of NSLP applications as of October 1st 2013. In FY 2014, SFAs will need to complete a new verification form and submit it to the state by January 10, 2014. The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Office for Nutrition, Health and Safety Programs has currently scheduled two webinar trainings on the NEW Verification Collection Report (742) formerly known as the Verification Summary Report. This form must be completed by all LEAs that are participating in the National School Lunch Program, including all RCCIs. The purpose of this training is to address the new program requirements tracked in the new form, teach SFAs how to complete the new form on the ESE security portal, and review the verification process. Please remember that the annual verification process needs to be completed by November 15 as in previous years. Participation by the School Nutrition Director or Program Liaison is strongly recommended as the scope of the form has expanded in several areas, including mandates for RCCI programs and districts implementing Community Eligibility or Provision 2. The Verification webinars are scheduled on the following dates:
Thursday, November 21, 20132:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday, November 26, 20139:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
