New Sheltered English Immersion test Pilot Test RESCHEDULED to February 17, 2014

You may be eligible to take a pilot test of the new Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) test for the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) program. Educators can earn up to $150 in MTEL test fee vouchers or up to $200 in Penguin Books gift codes for participating in the pilot test. Pilot testing is an important step in the test development process to collect information about the performance of new test questions.

What is the Pilot Test?

Eligible educators complete a set of two test booklets for the new Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) test (approximately 1 hour to complete both booklets). For each set of 2 booklets completed, you can earn a $75 MTEL test fee voucher or a $100 Penguin Books gift code. Participants may take more than two booklets if they choose and receive an additional voucher/Gift Code.

Who can take a Pilot Test?

Those eligible to participate in the pilot test are currently-licensed, Massachusetts public-school educators of core academic subjects* in classes where English language learners are enrolled. Educators who have completed or plan to complete the Department's RETELL training course are also eligible to participate in the pilot test. (*Early Childhood, Elementary, educators of students with moderate & severe disabilities, Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Civics & Government, Economics, History and Geography)

What are the benefits of taking a Pilot Test?

Taking a pilot test provides a participant with the opportunity to gauge their subject matter knowledge and gain practical testing experience.
