ACCESS for ELLs Assessment Update: End of Testing and Other Activities

To:Principals and District English Language Learner (ELL) Program Directors
From:Dan Wiener, Administrator of Inclusive Assessment
Paulette Watson, ACCESS for ELLs Program Coordinator
Date:February 6, 2014

Greetings! As the end of ACCESS for ELLs testing approaches, we are providing you with several reminders about completing and returning your test materials.

Completing the Back Cover of Test Booklets

Most of the student demographic information needed to complete the back cover of the test booklet is already recorded in SIMS, so schools will need to provide only some of the requested information.

Returning your School's ACCESS for ELLs Test Materials

Schools are expected to arrange a UPS pickup no later than 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13 and to have all materials picked up from the school by 5:00 p.m., Friday February 14. You may return materials before this date but please do not send partial shipments of test materials. Directions for arranging a UPS pickup from your school are provided on the green form in your test materials, entitled "Returning Materials to MetriTech." Schools may test students as late as Thursday, February 13, if necessary, in order to meet the Friday deadline.

WIDA Post-Administration Survey

WIDA has requested that ACCESS test administrators respond to an optional survey posted to https://uwmadison.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5teOiiHSHVfpsot to assist them in gathering feedback about your experience administering this year's ACCESS for ELLs tests. The survey should take about 5 minutes.

Demographic Data Verification Window

Schools will be asked to verify the accuracy of student demographic information provided on their students' test booklets during the Demographic Data Verification Window, scheduled for April 2-April 9. After logging in to the MetriTech Demographic Data Verification system, schools will be able to correct any discrepancies in students' names, SASIDs, dates of birth, grades, and "Not Tested" reasons.

Reporting Test Results

ACCESS for ELLs test results are tentatively scheduled to be posted to the Department's Security Portal and to arrive in schools on May 19, 2014. Thank you for your attention to this information. Please contact Paulette Watson in Student Assessment Services with any questions about ACCESS for ELLs testing at pwatson@doe.mass.edu, or by phone at 781-338-3625.
