Spring 2019 MCAS Test Administration Manuals
The manuals posted on this page provide information necessary for principals and test administrators to administer the spring 2019 MCAS tests.
Two weeks before the beginning of test administration, schools will receive one copy of the Principal's Administration Manual and copies of Test Administrator's Manuals (see the dates for delivery of manuals in the statewide testing schedule).
We encourage schools to print additional copies from this web page, but if paper copies are needed, please contact the MCAS Service Center at 800-737-5103.

Updated Instructions for Completing Student Information for Grade 10 PBT
Grade 10 students who require a paper test for ELA and/or Mathematics will receive one combined test & answer booklet (in which test questions will appear, and in which students will mark their answers) for each test session/subject– e.g., one booklet for ELA Session 1, another booklet for ELA Session 2.
If a student takes both sessions of a test and has Student ID Labels on both booklets, then the school only needs to complete the inside and outside back covers of the Session 1 booklet.
If a student does not have Student ID Labels for one or both booklets, the school will need to complete the inside and outside back covers of both booklets, if the sections apply to the student.
Please share the above information with your teams as appropriate. Questions should be directed to the MCAS Service Center (see contact information in the header of this update).

Updated Instructions for Students Using Laptops
The Test Administrator’s Manual for Computer-Based Testing (CBT TAM) provides guidance regarding the management of students’ computers during the 3- to 5-minute mid-session break to be taken at the test administrator’s discretion. This guidance appears on pages 41, 52, 65, 79, 104, and 111.
The guidance includes a recommendation to close laptop lids during the break. Note, however, that some laptops are configured so that applications “lose focus” (become disrupted) if the lid is closed. Check with your technology coordinator before testing to determine if your school’s devices are configured in this way. If your school’s devices would lose focus, students could place a manila folder over the screen instead of closing the lid. If TestNav does lose focus during testing, test administrators will need to resume students’ tests. Please share this information with your teams.
