Module Goal: To provide information regarding general and special education laws and regulations to assist principals and assistant principals in integrating the various components of the role of principal.
Module Objectives:
To discuss regulatory requirements for ensuring a responsive school environment that meets the needs of diverse learners
To review the responsibilities of the school principal under Massachusetts Special Education Regulations
To highlight the six basic principles of federal and state special education law that drive district practice
To summarizes key concepts in relationship to special education eligibility, IEP development and placement determination
Intended Audience: Principals and Assistant Principals in Elementary, Middle and High Schools
