Below are a sample letter for parents/guardians and a sample MCAS Non-Participation Form, in English and ten other languages, for principals, guidance counselors, and other school staff to use when meeting with parents/guardians of students who have not yet met Competency Determination requirements. If students do not wish to participate in an MCAS testing opportunity, and the parents/guardians agree, schools are encouraged to obtain their signatures on a form to document that the opportunity was offered and refused.
Note: First time grade 10 students must participate in MCAS testing and may not use this form to opt out of testing.
