Comments Sought on Proposed Charter School, Public Hearing Scheduled

The Department invites written comments on an application for a new charter school.

  • Innovators Charter School proposed for New Bedford and Fall River: The Department has received a final charter application for the proposed Innovators Charter School, which would serve up to 735 students in grades 6–12. Next steps include a review of the written final application, an interview of the applicant group, a public hearing, and a review of public comments submitted to Department. Commissioner Riley will then review all of the materials and decide whether to recommend the proposal to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education for charter award in February 2022. The public hearing will be held at 4:00–6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15 at the Kilburn Event Center at the Kilburn Mill, third floor, 127 West Rodney French Boulevard, New Bedford.
