As required under the recent legislation (G.L. c.71, s.37P) to assist districts in achieving their educational and school safety goals and to help maintain a positive school environment, each district shall annually submit their proposed budget for mental, social or emotional health support personnel to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE). It also requires that districts with a School Resource Officer (SRO) Program shall annually file with DESE its final memorandum of understanding (MOU) and operating procedures, and report to DESE the costs to the district of assigning SROs. School Superintendents and Charter School Leaders received submission instructions from DESE's Safe and Healthy Schools Coordinator, Anne Gilligan, the week of July 18, 2022.
