Public Comment Requested: Office of Educator Licensure Competency Review Guide

The Department is seeking public comment on updates to the Competency Review Guide which has previously been reviewed and adopted. The updates include:

  1. The subject matter knowledge/competency review requirements of the new History/Social Science license (page 14 & 55).
  2. Improved templates for documenting complete compliance with requirements (pages 6–53).
  3. New templates for documenting partial compliance with requirement (pages 70–75); and
  4. The adoption of additional Department Approved Assessments to satisfy Moderate Disabilities and Library subject matter knowledge requirements.

This updated Guide should assist educators and providers of professional learning experience in better understanding and correctly documenting compliance with requirements for licenses that require a competency review.

Public comment can be emailed to licensureregs2020@mass.gov or mailed to the attention of Tonya Safford, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 75 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA 02148. Public comment must be submitted by June 02, 2023.
