IEP Training Invitation

On January 31 & February 1, 2024 (from 12:00–3:00 p.m. each day), DESE, American Institutes for Research (AIR), and CAST/Rennie Center will be offering a virtual Training of Trainers (TOT) focused on helping districts implement the new IEP form. As part of the capacity-building efforts offered through the Massachusetts IEP Improvement Project, this webinar is designed to help school and district teams design, lead, and coordinate the roll-out of the new IEP form.

Participants who attend this TOT session ("trainers") will support training efforts in local districts. As a result of attending this event, trainers will:

  • Understand the technical changes of the new IEP form about existing form(s), systems, policies, and guidance.
  • Identify & increase opportunities for adaptive change that results in effective and efficient collaboration between general educators, special educators, related service providers, parents, guardians, and students to support students eligible for special education.
  • Learn how to train educators and other stakeholders on the new IEP form. Explore resources to support effective IEP implementation to guide their own training.

Please note: This similar training was offered to central, eastern, and western regions of the state in October 2023. Schools and district staff members who did not attend the in-person offerings are strongly encouraged to attend this virtual TOT. School and district staff members who participated in that training do not need to attend this virtual offering. However, they may invite other representatives who did not participate in the in-person event. Participation will be limited to up to 5 representatives per district/organization. Save the date and register by January 15! You will be asked to register individually, regardless of whether you attend as part of a team. We hope to see you there!
