Announcing Workshop - Using Technology to Support Effective Career Planning

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the National Center for School Counseling Outcome Research are pleased to announce a workshop for educators in high schools with Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act Five-Year Local Plans on how to use technology to support effective career planning. At the workshop, participants will learn how to: (1) maximize their current career information delivery system as well as the Massachusetts College and Career Web Portal expected to be launched this spring; (2) integrate school student information systems with career planning systems; (3) use technology to reduce time spent on certain guidance tasks creating more time for career planning; and (4) use technology to evaluate career planning services and activities. The workshop will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2009 from 9:00AM – 3:00 PM at the Jewish Community Center of Amherst. Sign-in will begin at 8:30 AM. Schools are encouraged to send a team of two or three staff that should include a guidance counselor and an IT support person.
