STEM School and Educator Awards Overview

Every year, DESE and partner organizations recognize a small number of outstanding districts, schools, and educators from across the Commonwealth. More information on each award program is below. Please consider nominating your districts, a STEM educator, or applying for one of these recognitions yourself!

Green Ribbon Schools Schools and districts that are exemplary in reducing environmental impact and costs, improving the health and wellness of students and staff, and delivering effective environmental and sustainability education Recipients of the award are invited to a ceremony in Washington, D.C. where they receive a plaque; are the subject of media attention; and have their efforts celebrated. Applications due Monday January 23, 2023
Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) Science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science. Grade span eligibility alternates each year. $10,000 National Science Foundation award and a trip to Washington, D.C. Applications for 7–12th grade teachers are now open. Applications must be completed by February 6, 2023.
