Civics Project Participation Data

All students in grade 8 and all high school students (at any point in grades 9–12) must be provided the opportunity to participate in as least one non-partisan, student led civics project. For more information, about the project requirement, see the Civics Projects Quick Reference Guide.

Get ready to explore a new, secure civics data dashboard from DESE. Available only to designated school and district staff, the new Civics Project Data Dashboard gives leaders access to their own student-led civics project data for grades 8 and high school and can help you:

  • Track civics project completion over time and compare district data with statewide trends.
  • Identify areas for improvement and support in civics education.
  • Support local conversations about expanding access to meaningful, high-quality civic learning experiences.
