Today, the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) is releasing and posting on its website updated procedures for the Problem Resolution Systems Office (PRS) and Public School Monitoring Office (PSM) as part of its continuous efforts to improve its system of General Supervision under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The updated procedures for the Office of Approved Private Special Education Schools (OASES) will be posted at a future date.

DESE sought public comment on the drafts of these procedures from December 15, 2023 until January 26, 2024. DESE appreciates the public comments that it received on the draft procedures and the final procedures incorporate many of the comments received. DESE anticipates that these procedures will be updated in the future, as needed.

We thank you for continuing to serve and support students with disabilities and their families throughout the Commonwealth.
