DESE's Special Education offices are committed to ensuring equitable, high-quality education for all students with disabilities by providing transparent reporting, data-driven insights, and compliance monitoring.
Key Reports & Data
State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR) — Yearly report on the state of special education in Massachusetts that reports on performance and compliance across 18 Indicators.
IDEA Part B LEA Annual Determinations — Yearly Determinations issued using LEA special education data.
Significant Disproportionality — Yearly Identifications for LEAs focused on the Identification, Placements, and Discipline of students with disabilities.
IDEA 618 Data Submissions — Yearly submissions to the Office of Special Education Programs pertaining to special education data.
Data Technical Assistance and Trainings — To ensure high quality data is used for all reporting and submissions, technical assistance is provided to LEAs.
