The 2018 Massachusetts Framework for History and Social Science sets forth the content, history and social science practices, and literacy skills that students need to become thoughtful and active participants in a democratic society and a complex world. The Department is currently developing performance tasks and questions for an end-of-course test based on the grade 8 civics content and practice standards. A small tryout was administered in Spring 2021 and it is expected that a field test will be administered in school year 2021-2022. The Department plans to release a set of performance tasks and computer-based questions for instructional purposes in school year 2021-2022.
Additional information about the test is provided in the following links.
