IDEA Part B Grant Funding

The IDEA Part B Grant Funding section provides guidance and resources for local education agencies receiving federal special education funds under IDEA. It outlines federal grant parameters and includes critical tools for program directors, such as information on allowable and unallowable costs, program monitoring expectations, and required documentation to ensure fiscal and programmatic compliance. LEAs access and manage their grant applications through the Grants Electronic Monitoring System (GEMS). The section also highlights the Special Education Conditions of Assistance, which includes annual certifications that LEAs must complete to receive IDEA Part B funds and demonstrate ongoing compliance with IDEA fiscal and programmatic requirements. These resources support DESE's general supervision role in ensuring that federal funds are used appropriately to support equitable and effective services for students with disabilities.
