FY2023: Innovation Pathways Implementation and Support Grant

Purpose:

The purpose of this targeted grant is to provide designated Innovation Pathways with resources to support program implementation.

Priorities:

Supporting designees in the execution of their approved designation plan such that the Innovation Pathway program meets all criteria requirements.

Priority will be given to districts and schools in chronically underperforming status.

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants will be districts who received Innovation Pathway Designation from DESE in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 .

An approximate total amount of $3,525,000.00 is available to eligible applicants.

An LEA may submit only one application for a maximum award as specified in the Part III Appendix. This grant will prioritize at least 25% of available funds available for schools and districts in chronically underperforming status. If applications are not received from schools in status, funds will be distributed to other applicants.

Funding is contingent upon availability. All dollar amounts listed are estimated/approximate and are subject to change. If more funding becomes available it will be distributed under the same guidelines that appear in this RFP document.

Fund Use:

Targeted funds from the state will be used to support designated Innovation Pathway's adherence to the five guiding principles . Allowable funding expenses include:

  • Program administration and coordination;
  • Stipends for K12- and higher education faculty;
  • Curricular development;
  • Engagement with MassHire boards and industry;
  • Providing work-based learning opportunities for students;
  • Professional development;
  • Instructional-related supplies and materials;
  • High quality college and career advising and MyCAP development embedded in the pathway;
  • Industry recognized credentials;
  • Expenses associated with student participation in dual-enrollment courses.

Computer hardware, (e.g. laptops) and student stipends may not be funded by this grant. This grant cannot be applied towards the secondary school's capital expenses.

Submission Instructions:

Submit all required grant materials through EdGrants.

In EdGrants, districts are required to create and name the project. Please use the following naming convention for your "Applicant Project Name" in EdGrants:

  • FY23 FC419 Innovation Pathways (Applicant Name)

All items listed under the required forms section of this RFP should be uploaded / attached in the Attachments List formlet of the Application Submission in EdGrants. This includes a signed / scanned PDF of Part I / Coversheet with Superintendent's signature as well as Schedule A form, if applicable to your district. The final budget the applicant is requesting will be entered directly into EdGrants as part of the application submission process.
