FY2022: Teen Pregnancy Prevention: Partners for Youth Success (PREP) — Integrated Approaches to Sustainability III

Purpose:

This federally-funded targeted Teen Pregnancy Prevention: Partners for Youth Success Grant (also referred to as PREP) is intended to support previously funded school districts with professional development, coaching and support for implementation of established programming. The PREP - Integrated Approaches to Sustainability III grant will provide grantees with additional supports to supplement those lost during COVID pandemic closures with a particular focus on long term sustainability of programming:

  • Transitioning to non-funded sustainable programming
  • Continued implementation of the selected curriculum in middle schools (completely and with fidelity).
  • Evaluation activities related to program implementation and outcomes.
Priorities:

The priority of this grant is to support the continued work of districts participating in the PREP grant with implementation of and sustainability planning for the program.

Districts receiving these funds will ensure that:

  • There is a designated project lead(s).
  • The curriculum has been approved by the district for implementation during the 2021-2022 school year.
  • The curriculum will be implemented completely and with fidelity.
  • All project personnel (including teachers) attend all designated required trainings sponsored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and/or the Department of Public Health (DPH).
  • All evaluation activities are completed in full.
Eligibility:

The following three districts, that were awarded a Fiscal Year 2021 (FY2021) Fund Code (FC) 716 grant are eligible to apply to participate in professional development, receive technical assistance and coaching and to implement plans for sustainability of programming

  • Chelsea Public Schools
  • Salem Public Schools
  • Springfield Public Schools

Funding:

Approximately $15,000 is available. Funding is contingent upon availability. All dollar amounts listed are estimated/approximate and are subject to change. If more funding becomes available it will be distributed under the same guidelines that appear in this RFP document.

Eligible applicants may apply for up to $5,000 each.

DESE reserves the right to alter the award to each funded school district.

Fund Use:

Funds can be used to:

  • Support release time for staff (e.g., substitutes or stipends) to attend workshops and trainings, and time to plan and implement programs.
  • Purchase selected curricula and associated teaching materials, and train staff for implementation of selected curricula.
  • Support other costs associated with implementing and sustaining the program.

*No earlier than the date a substantially approvable application is submitted through EdGrants.

Upon award, a required meeting will be scheduled with the project lead and or project team to review grant requirements and expectations.

Teacher Assurances. All teachers implementing the curriculum are asked to complete and submit upon grant award and prior to program delivery. A link to the form will be provided upon award.**

A TA/Observation planning log must be submitted for each participating teacher prior to curriculum implementation. A link to this form will be provided upon award.**

Teacher Self Assessment. All teachers implementing the curriculum will be asked to complete and submit upon grant award and prior to program delivery. This will help to guide and tailor professional development, technical assistance and coaching sessions. A link to this form will be provided upon reward

DESE will be providing various professional development opportunities, activities and resources throughout the year to support sustainability of PREP programming and content delivery through integrated approaches that focus on the whole child and comprehensive health. Some activities may include the completion of various tools, action plans and assessments to help guide this work.

** We ask for these forms to be completed to ensure understanding and responsibilities as well as to be able to monitor program implementation for reporting to federal funders.

Submit all required grant materials through EdGrants

In EdGrants, districts are required to create and name the project. Please use the following naming convention for your "Applicant Project Name" in EdGrants:

All items listed under the required forms section of this RFP should be uploaded / attached in the Attachments List formlet of the Application Submission in EdGrants. This includes a signed / scanned PDF of Part I / Coversheet with Superintendent's signature as well as Schedule A form, if applicable to your district. The final budget the applicant is requesting will be entered directly into EdGrants as part of the application submission process.
